As part of our new Business Plan objective ‘Keeping it Safe and Welcoming,’ we are offering BID Businesses training dates across the year for our Dementia Friends, Sign Language and First Aid courses, plus a number of other courses that we will be introducing for 2023!

Dementia Friends

A new session for the BID, we will be hosting a Dementia Friends Session to support the town in being more inclusive.

So far, we have had over 30 town centre employees take part in this training and are continuing to add to this number throughout the year.

The session is 1 hour long, it’s interactive, and will give participants an understanding of what dementia is, how to support people living with dementia, and how to make businesses dementia-friendly.

Businesses taken part so far: Collectively Camberley, The Secret Stage School, Specsavers, McDonalds, Projectfive, Conquest Consultancy, Atrium Dental, The Square, Willow & Nutmeg, Surrey Heath Museum, Camberley Library, Camberley Theatre, Surrey Heath Age Concern & Butt Miller.

British Sign Language

 Working with CSSEF (Just4Kids) our aim is to make Camberley town centre businesses Deaf Aware in support of our deaf community.

So far, we trained 80 staff members from Camberley BID Businesses in our British Sign Language courses and are now offering places for later on this year.

This training will be approx 4 hours either morning or afternoon.

More dates will be released for early-2023.

Emergency First Aid

So far, we have trained over 115 staff members from Camberley BID Businesses on this Emergency First Aid Course. We will be continuing to roll this training out in April this year.

This training will be a full day and the course will be accredited.

More dates will be released for early-2023.

Businesses taken part so far: The Workshop, Rotisserie Corner, Secret Stage School, Sorelles, The Bear, Pirates Landing, Creams, Login Business Lounge, Projectfive, Butt Miller, Imagination Children’s Roleplay, Tortuga Tattoo, The Square, Atrium Dental, The Autism Trust, Willow & Nutmeg, Camberley Theatre, Your Gold Exchange, The Hope Hub, Squish, Vanilla Vapes and Riseden.

All costs fully subsidised by the BID. Each business will have up to 2 spaces and will need to sign up to attend the course. All places at this training will work on a first-come, first-served basis.
All courses we be held in Camberley town centre venues.
