The Square Camberley Marks Remembrance with Striking Poppy Display

Thanks to the incredible generosity and creativity of the local community, the centre received over 800 handmade poppies, which now form part of a stunning display in Central Square. The Square Camberley would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Poppy Appeal display such a meaningful success.

This wonderful community project was supported by a number of local groups and individuals, including the Repair Café, Royal British Legion, Rotary Club, Craft Coop, U3A, Urban Tails, Hullabaloo, Sue Ryder, The Square staff past and present, and many local shoppers, all of whom contributed their time, talent, and donations to bring the display to life.

Visitors can view the powerful poppy installation, featuring all the donated poppies, a beautiful handmade poppy dress, and poppy colouring sheets created by local residents in tribute to those who served in Central Square.

To mark Remembrance Sunday, The Square will observe a one-minute silence at 11am on Sunday 9th November, joining communities across the country in remembrance. In addition, on Tuesday 11th November, the centre will hold a two-minute silence for Armistice Day, where representatives from the Royal British Legion and Mayor, Councillor Louise Asbery, will deliver a speech to honour the fallen.

Gavin Vidler, Centre Manager at The Square Camberley, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to craft, donate, and help make this project so special. We’re so proud to see the community come together in such a heartfelt way to support this year’s Poppy Appeal and help to create this amazing display.”
