The Square Camberley Champions Local Entrepreneur with Community Craft Market
Karissa Kwok, whose motto is “community, variety, and quality,” has been passionate about business since the age of 14, when she started her own crochet business Classynfancy. Experiencing the challenges of running a business alongside school, she turned to the Children’s Business Fair workshops, which gave her the tools and confidence to grow her ideas further. Determined to improve on the markets she had attended in the past, Karissa decided to create her own showcasing local talent while supporting small businesses.
Her journey has already seen her feature in the local press and even share her business strategy with former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. She credits her success to a strong community network, saying: “Having a supportive community is the key to success.”
The Square Camberley will host Artisan Avenue on Saturday 20th September from 10am until 4pm in Cambridge Square. This free-entry market will bring together over 15 independent makers and small businesses from across Surrey, offering a unique showcase of handmade crafts, gifts, and artisan creations. With the theme “crafted with heart, curated with purpose” visitors can expect a vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and quality featuring crochet and accessories to home décor and more.
The event will also feature Karissa’s very own crochet stall, which first inspired her entrepreneurial journey.Karissa said: “The Square team have been so supportive throughout this process. They’ve really encouraged me and even gifted me a free pitch, which means so much as a young business owner.”
Gavin Vidler, Centre Manager for The Square Camberley, commented “We’re delighted to support Karissa’s vision and provide a platform for her first artisan market here at The Square. It’s inspiring to see such passion and determination from a young local entrepreneur, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to a day full of creativity, community spirit, and unique finds.”
