Surrey Heath Borough Council collaborates with the Children’s Business Fair and Love Camberley to support young entrepreneurs

Surrey Heath Borough Council is delighted to announce its partnership with the Children’s Business Fair and Love Camberley for an exciting event on Saturday 15 July in Camberley town centre.  This collaboration aims to provide a platform for young entrepreneurs in the community to showcase their creativity, innovation, and business acumen.

The Children’s Business Fair is an internationally recognised initiative that empowers children and nurtures their entrepreneurial spirit. It offers a unique opportunity for children between the ages of 6 and 16 to launch and manage their own businesses for a day. By participating in the fair, young people gain valuable skills in entrepreneurship, marketing, finance and customer service, while fostering creativity and building confidence.

Councillor Kel Finan-Cooke, Portfolio Holder for Economic & Income Development Surrey Heath Borough Council, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event, saying:

“It’s brilliant to partner with the Children’s Business Fair to create a platform for our local young entrepreneurs. As a Council we are committed to supporting young individuals and businesses. This excellent initiative combines the two perfectly and we cannot wait to see the products that the students produce and sell”.

Sam Rogerson, Children’s Business Fair Founder said:

“We’re thrilled to be able to deliver the Children’s Business Fair in Camberley!

This unique opportunity provides a fantastic platform for young individuals to showcase their passion for entrepreneurship. We’re encouraging all members of the community to come to Camberley and support these students as they take their first steps into business!”

Jodie MacAndrew, Love Camberley BID Manager said:

“Last year Camberley was voted the UK’s Top Town for Business and this is another example of where partners have come together to demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit to deliver what will be a superb event for all ages in the town centre.

The Children’s Business Fair is part of Camberley’s first ever Beach Party which will see the seaside come to Camberley with sand, deck chairs, face painting, street entertainment and plenty of free family activities across the town!”

The Children’s Business Fair has received funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills. For more information, visit the Gov.uk website.
