Following the Government’s Covid-19 announcement, The Square Camberley has launched their very own virtual social media community engagement programme.

The Camberley based shopping centre is working with a host of local businesses, seeing weekly live fitness classes with Camberley fitness instructor Michelle Laurie, arts and crafts for all the family, virtual storytelling sessions with Camberley Theatre’s panto cast and Creative Minds Academy.

The Square has also launched their very own Virtual Book Club with Waterstones, inviting followers to read the chosen book of the month and discuss their thoughts with other members of the group. This month’s book is ‘Educated by Tara Westover’ and the review will take place on The Square’s Facebook page on Thursday 30th April. As part of the new social media programme, families can also enjoy learning new cooking recipes.

Retailers at The Square have also launched their own initiatives to help spread community cheer.

Popular pottery and arts and crafts store, Mrs Potts’ Place is working with local craftspeople to create mini heart and rainbow keepsakes to send to nominated workers on the frontline.

The store has also launched their own JustGiving page, seeing over £500 raised in just two weeks for local charities and Frimley Par Hospital.

For more information about retailer’s initiatives and the list of essential stores open, visit The Square’s dedicated Covid-19 page.

Joana Santos, Marketing Manager, The Square Camberley commented: “We’re delighted to launch our new community social programme, giving our followers the chance to learn new skills and enjoy exclusive video content. During these uncertain times, we wanted to work together as a community to help support each other and we’re thrilled to be able to have our very own live fitness classes, virtual storytelling sessions and our online book club.”

“We’ll be continuing to add to our social programme over the next few weeks, asking our followers what content they’d like to see in the future. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the local businesses and people who have stepped forward to be a part of our community programme. It’s clear to see that Camberley really does have an amazing community and together we will be stronger.”
